More than 10,000 military personnel took part in training at Fort McCoy during August.
Army Reserve, Air Force Reserve and National Guard forces conducted a variety of readiness missions, including large-scale exercises, military police and medical training, aviation operations and domestic-response exercises.
One of the largest efforts was Warrior Exercise-Regional Medic 2026, involving thousands of Army Reserve soldiers and other military and multinational participants. Training included tactical operations, casualty response, medical evacuation, CBRN response and preparation for unmanned aircraft threats.
Air Force Reserve A-10 aircraft from Missouri also conducted bombing and low-level flight training at Fort McCoy.
Later in August, about 1,000 service members from 35 states participated in Patriot 26, a domestic-response exercise involving military and civilian emergency agencies.
Fort McCoy officials say the installation’s training mission also provides an economic benefit to the surrounding region. The fort reported an estimated 1-point-6-billion-dollar economic impact during fiscal year 2024.
