The head of hiring at Tomah Health says the hospital is continuing to work through workforce challenges that have created a shortage in registered nurses.
Human Resources Director Brenda Reinert said the R-N shortage is something new for Tomah Health.
Reinert made the comments in light of the Wisconsin Hospital Association’s 2023 Wisconsin Health Care Workforce Report, which highlighted the impact of the nursing shortage that arrived in Wisconsin for the first time since early 2000.
According to the W-H-A report, increases in vacancy rates statewide were especially sharp in nursing and frontline technical positions, such as respiratory therapists, surgical technicians and lab technologists.
Tomah Health employs just over 425. Current job openings at Tomah Health can be found on the hospital’s web site at Tomah Health-dot-org.
