Two people were killed Tuesday night in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 94 in Jackson County.

According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, the crash happened at approximately 10:33 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, on westbound I-94 near mile marker 102, close to Hixton.

Investigators say a passenger vehicle was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes when it collided head-on with a semi tractor-trailer. The impact caused the semi to sideswipe a second semi tractor-trailer.

The two occupants of the passenger vehicle died from their injuries. The drivers of both semi tractor-trailers were not injured.

Responding agencies included the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Jackson County Highway Department, Hixton Fire & EMS, and Jensen’s Towing.

The crash remains under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol.
