A Vernon County Deer Farm has been depopulated. It comes after the farm was quarantined in September of 2022 when a 3-year-old white-tailed buck tested positive for Chronic Wasting Disease. The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) said that of the 32 animals killed, four tested positive for CWD. The farm owner will receive indemnity for the depopulated animals and may not raise any deer for the next five years, along with maintaining fences and submitting to routine inspections by DATCP.
