William “Wild Bill” Peters passed away peacefully on April 6, 2025, after a courageous
battle with cancer. Born in Milwaukee, WI, to Lyle and Mabel Peters, Bill grew up in
Merrillan, where he made lifelong memories and friendships.
Bill will be remembered for his love of reading, dogs, fishing, cheering on the Chicago
Bears, and striking up conversations with anyone who crossed his path.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Mabel, and his younger sister,
Margaret (Peggy) Peters-Zinn. He is survived by his sister, Barb Corral of Merrillan;
nieces and nephews Yolanda (Jeff), Angela (Steve), and Gilberto (Adira); and his
beloved great-nieces and nephews Stephanie (Curtis), Kaitlin, Sarah, Stephen, Luci,
and Amos, as well as great-great-nephew Logan.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the medical staff at Marshfield
Hospital for their gentle care during Bill’s final days, to Jada at Lutheran Social Services,
and to Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home. A special thank you also goes to his dear
friends Roger and Barb, who never failed to bring a smile to his face.
