In celebration of International Women’s History Month, the
Wisconsin Army National Guard is hosting a Women’s Symposium on March 29, 2024, at Madison
College.

This symposium will showcase the inspiring stories and remarkable achievements of women leaders
within the Wisconsin Army National Guard. This special event will provide a vital platform for open
discussions about the challenges, triumphs, and unique experiences of female Soldiers while
fostering an environment of empowerment, mentorship, and career development.
The key objectives of the symposium include empowering leaders, women, and allies to advocate for
one another and reinforcing the organization’s commitment to gender equality. The event will delve
into initiatives promoting diversity and inclusion, recognizing the importance of diverse perspectives,
skills, and life experiences and aim to build a stronger and more resilient organization while
maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
Lt Col Shannon Hellenbrand, Commander of the Recruiting and Retention Battalion, adds, “Women
and diversity play pivotal roles in the Wisconsin National Guard, enriching its capabilities and
strengthening its effectiveness as a military force. Embracing gender diversity and inclusivity not only
reflects the values of equality and fairness but also enhances the Guard’s ability to fulfill its mission of
protecting and serving the people of Wisconsin and the nation.”
The Wisconsin Army National Guard has invited military personnel, civilians, and community
members interested in supporting and promoting diversity within our armed forces to attend this
event.
