The Wisconsin National Guard will welcome home Soldiers from the 1st Battalion, 121st Field Artillery Regiment today following nearly a yearlong mobilization in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.
The first of two groups of Soldiers will be formally recognized at 2:30 this afternoon at the Appleton Flight Center.
The 1-121st Field Artillery is headquartered in Oak Creek, with units in Hartford, Two Rivers and Sussex. The battalion is part of the 157th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade based in Milwaukee.
The regiment traces its history back to 1885 and has served in World War One, World War Two and the Global War on Terror, as well as numerous domestic operations in Wisconsin.
