Two area Veterans will represent Wisconsin at the 45th National Veterans Wheelchair Games, taking place July 9th through the 14th in Detroit, Michigan.
Erin Mulkey of Friendship, a U.S. Army Veteran, and Marvin Bailey of Tomah, a U.S. Navy Veteran, will compete as members of the Tomah VA Medical Center team.
The National Veterans Wheelchair Games bring together about 500 Veterans from across the country to compete in adaptive sports, including wheelchair basketball, softball, and wheelchair rugby. The annual event is co-presented by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and Paralyzed Veterans of America.
Now in its 45th year, the games promote rehabilitation, fitness, and independence while showcasing the determination and resilience of America’s Veterans. Approximately 3,000 volunteers and sponsors will support this year’s competition in Detroit.
