The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection is accepting applications for its 2027 Producer-Led Watershed Protection Grants through September 15th.
The program provides grants of up to $40,000 to farmer-led groups working to improve soil and water conservation in their local watersheds. Governor Tony Evers’ current state budget includes $1 million for the 2027 grant cycle.
To qualify, applicants must be groups of at least five farmers located in the same or neighboring watershed and partner with a county conservation department, UW-Extension, the Department of Natural Resources, or a nonprofit conservation organization.
Since the program began in 2015, DATCP has awarded more than $8.2 million to producer-led watershed groups across Wisconsin, supporting conservation education, on-farm research, field demonstrations, and other efforts to improve soil health and water quality.
