The final regional competition for SkillsUSA Wisconsin kicks off today at the University of Wisconsin–Stout in Menomonie.
Events begin this afternoon in Harvey Hall, Room 118, and will run from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Competitions resume Friday morning at 9:15 and continue until 11:45.
Students from more than 40 middle and high schools across Wisconsin are taking part, showcasing their skills in categories including Entrepreneurship, Job Interview, Job Skill Demonstration, Medical Math, Medical Terminology, Prepared Speech, Related Technical Math, and Additive Manufacturing — which continues through both days. Area schools participating include Black River Falls, Lincoln High School-Alma Center, Fall Creek, G-E-T and Holmen.
Regional competitors will be vying for a chance to advance to the 53rd annual Wisconsin SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference, set for April 7th and 8th in Madison. The state conference is the largest hands-on workforce development event in Wisconsin and highlights the state’s top career and technical education students.
Today’s competition brings together student participants, advisors, SkillsUSA staff, and volunteers for an evening focused on leadership, technical excellence, and career readiness.
