Fort McCoy will mark a new chapter in Army Reserve training with the formal activation of the 98th Army Reserve Readiness Training Center on October 21. The ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. at Building 50 on South O Street.
The new organization builds on the legacy of the 98th Infantry Division, which dates back to World War I and later transitioned to a training-focused mission. The center brings together several training organizations, including the Noncommissioned Officer Academy at Fort McCoy and other specialized training units.
Preparations included an August 28 foot march and patch ceremony involving 134 personnel to promote unity and recognize the unit’s heritage.
The activation reinforces Fort McCoy’s longstanding role in preparing military personnel for missions around the world. The Wisconsin installation has supported training for more than 100,000 military personnel from all service branches nearly every year since 1984.
