A newly reopened Wausau grocery store is celebrating a major stroke of luck. The Hy-Vee on South 18th Avenue, which opened this week after previously operating as County Market, sold a winning $7.1 million Megabucks ticket for the November 19 drawing. Store Director Jake Dryer says it’s exciting to have such a big winner just three days after reopening.
Wausau has seen several big lottery wins in 2025, including jackpots or major prizes sold at Kwik Trip and Rib Foods earlier this year. The $7.1 million win is the fourth-largest Megabucks jackpot since 2017. Megabucks is a Wisconsin-only lottery game with drawings Wednesdays and Saturdays, and winners have 180 days to claim their prize.
