42-year-old Kenneth Van Meter, the Mondovi man accused of a fatal car crash as well as possessing child pornography, pleaded guilty to homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and no contest to two counts of child pornography possession. Authorities say Van Meter was speeding, in May 2023, on East Clairemont Avenue in Eau Claire when he crashed into 56-year-old Tammy Jarecki’s vehicle, which was stopped at a light. Her car burst into flames, and she did not survive. Reports state that officers searched Van Meter’s phone after the crash and found screenshots from video chats with a three-year-old victim. His sentencing is set for May 29th.
