(Madison, WI)  —  Republican legislative leaders are giving Democratic Governor Tony Evers’ plans for a 600-million dollar tax cut a “thumbs down.”  Evers wants to use part of Wisconsin’s projected revenue surplus to pay for his plan.  Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu and Assembly Speaker Robin Vos responded in a joint statement Tuesday.  LeMahieu says if the governor is serious about providing financial relief to taxpayers he could do so immediately using federal money from the American Rescue Plan Act.  Vos says if the projected surplus materializes, Republicans will cut taxes for everyone – not pick winners and losers as Evers does with his plan.
