In state news, the Wisconsin Department of Justice’s Division of Criminal Investigation has announced that charges have been filed in Rock and Dane Counties against two individuals following a multi-agency investigation.
According to criminal complaints, Paul VanDuyne Jr. and Andrea Whitaker are accused of conspiring to create or obtain poisons and attempting to murder two women with whom VanDuyne had prior relationships.
Both defendants face multiple charges in Rock County, including attempted first-degree intentional homicide, aggravated battery, reckless endangerment, and stalking, all involving the use of a dangerous weapon. In Dane County, additional charges have been filed, including attempted homicide and harboring a felon.
Authorities stress that these charges are accusations, and both individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty. The Rock and Dane County District Attorneys are leading the prosecutions.
The investigation involved numerous agencies, including the FBI, Wisconsin State Crime Labs, local police and fire departments, and the 54th Civil Support Team.
